PRESS RELEASE
Release Time : Immediate
Illawarra Coal continues to support the vital community work of Lifeline Macarthur.
Lifeline Macarthur is not only delighted but is extremely grateful to Illawarra Coal because the Company’s Community Partnerships Program has agreed to a three year partnership providing Lifeline Macarthur with funding of $30,000 each year for three years for the training of more Volunteer Telephone Counsellors.
The provision of trained counsellors will ensure the service continues its 24 hours a day 7 days a week counselling coverage.
Lifeline Macarthur CEO, Peter Mihajlovic said, “the Corporate Social Responsibility shown by Illawarra Coal sets a benchmark for others to follow. We are indebted to Illawarra Coal and thank them most sincerely. They have supported us for the past two years to the value of $78,000 and have now committed to a further $90,000”.
Illawarra Coal operates Appin and Westcliff collieries in the Wollondilly Shire and established the CPP in 2004. Money from the sale of coal goes into a fund administered by a group of community representatives. They have formed a Board and take applications for the funding of programs in the area in which the collieries operate. The aim is to provide benefits to those communities.
They deserve a huge “pat on the back” for supporting the community in such a significant way.
